DEMAND to declare Shimlapuri, New Shimlapuri and New Janta Nagar as industrial areas

Ludhiana, August 5, 2013: Sanjeev Dhiman, general secretary, BJP, Janta Nagar Mandal, Ludhiana, has said the sword of uprooting has been hanging on heads of small industrialists and traders of the mohallas and localities of the areas of Shimlapuri, New Shimlapuri and New Janta Nagar since these areas have been declared as “residential” in Master Plan for Ludhiana city.
In a statement here today, he told that small industrial units were running into houses of these areas over the decades. He added the industry could have grown to much extent if the electricity connections were not stopped in these areas for the last fifteen years. The small industrialists running their units in these areas are not in a position to shift to other places because of economic constraints. These small industrialists did not have enough money either to purchase house or land for their industry at other places in the city, he said.
He said the future of thousands of families is in dark due to the present situation, adding he has made an appeal to BJP high command to intervene and get these areas industrial ones. He said the residents of this area have been raising this demand over the period.
Dhiman regretted that the industry is said to shift to some other place after passage of every 15-20 years. But nobody tells us as to where should industry go, he asks. He added wherever the industry goes the particular area gets inhabited with population. Then where is the fault of the industry, he further asked.
