Demand for interaction meeting to expedite better livability in big cities of Punjab
Ludhiana Smart City Ltd (LSCL) director Ar Sanjay Goel has written to Punjab Chief Minister
Ludhiana, January 2, 2022: Ludhiana Smart City Ltd (LSCL) director Ar Sanjay Goel has written to Punjab Chief Minister stating that it’s a matter of proud that Punjab Government is solving maximum possible problems of public in the state of Punjab.
State of urban development specially traffic congestion issue has not been solved (traffic congestion during past few years is increasing in place of decreasing) even in upcoming smart cities of Ludhiana, Amritsar and Jalandhar inspite of best efforts of Government and NGOs. Main reason apart from lack of coordination in between different development agencies is buildings constructed against byelaws as many big buildings are operating not only with full ground floor coverage but without any parking inside. Our all upcoming smart cities require many multilevel parking complexes but unfortunately our state administration could not delivered desired results inspite of funds availability from Centre as well as State.
Ar Sanjay Goel who is also chairman of Indian Institute of Architects Punjab Chapter said there are many more common issues at pan city level not only in three upcoming smart cities of Punjab but in other cities too, which can be thoroughly discussed and implemented as soon as possible.
He added Team Indian Institute of Architects Punjab Chapter requests Punjab Government to immediately call meeting with state Architects- planners and SPVs of smart cities to take up projects desired by citizens on priority so as to make our cities more livable.
He said other issues than traffic under smart city mission at pan city level are garbage disposal, rain water sewer/harvesting, sewerage system, water supply, landscaping, proper electrification, LED street lights, proper working traffic lights and CCTV etc.
“Hope an interaction meeting not only with Indian Institute of Architects Punjab Chapter but with SPVs of smart cities will be called soon to expedite better livability in big cities of Punjab”, he concluded.
Copies of the representation has also been sent to Chief Secretary, Punjab.
