Demand to solve problems of taxi-cab operators

Dharamshala: The demand of taxi operators to collect goods and passenger tax through the Department of Transport instead of Excise and Taxation Department, was raised by Vishal Nehria, BJP MLA of Dharamshala to the Chief Minister in Shimla today. Apart from this, keeping in mind the circumstances arising out of the Corona epidemic, Nehria also raised the demand of waiving all kinds of taxes and fees from the taxi operators.
Vishal Nehria, who met the Chief Minister today, also submitted a demand letter to solve the problems of taxicab operators. Earlier, the MLA had a meeting with the officials of the taxi union in Dharamshala, heard their problems and assured the taxi operators to put their problems before the Chief Minister to get these resolved.
Nehria said, “Due to the circumstances arising out of Covid-19, the number of outside tourists in the state has reduced to almost zero, adversely affecting the financial condition of taxi operators. although the state government has waived out the token tax by 30 July, the taxi owners are also having to incur other expenses like passenger tax and passing of vehicles etc.”
He said that he met the Chief Minister today and CM has assured to solve all the problems of taxi operators and will also give relief in taxes. Vishal Nehria said, “A large number of people are indirectly and indirectly linked to the taxi business in the state and under normal circumstances, the business of taxi operators goes on nicely in the state due to arrival of tourists in Himachal, throughout the year. But in the present circumstances, the people associated with tourist business are facing difficulties. In such circumstances every possible step will be taken to solve their problems.”
