Demand to start holding of meeting of Sub Divisional Grievances Redressal Committee (West) Ludhiana
Senior citizen and social activist Dr Satish Kumar Thaman writes to SDM(West) Ludhiana
Ludhiana: Senior citizen and social activist Dr Satish Kumar Thaman, a resident of Rishi Nagar, Ludhiana, on October 7, 2020 has written to SDM (West) Ludhiana urgently requesting to start holding of meetings of Sub Divisional Grievances Redressal Committee (West), Ludhiana.
Dr Thaman told that earlier he had written to DC Ludhiana on the matter following which DC Ludhiana vide his letter (No. 4594/C.E.A./Steno dated 22.09.2020) had written to SDM Ludhiana to take necessary action and the applicant (Dr Thaman) be informed accordingly.
In his recent follow-up letter addressed to SDM (West) Ludhiana about the matter concerned, Dr Thaman has stated that this matter is most urgent and pointed out that non-conducting of Grievances Redressal Committee Meeting of SDM (W) Ludhiana, for the last three years is a matter of concern.
Dr Thaman told that the committee is comprised of 29 members, who were nominated by different political parties/ organizations/ societies/ Beopar Mandal. All these members are debarred to take up the issues of grievances of public in SDM (W) Redressal Committee Meeting since formation of Grievances Redressal Committee Meeting on 16.8.2017.
He pointed out that this meeting is of utmost importance as this is a proper platform to raise issues of public of (west area constituency), not only to put up grievances, but to resolve them through discussions, interaction conclaves, with the help of administration through discussions with the presence of representatives of different government departments and nominated members.
He added that it is more surprising that no introductory meeting has been held since 16.08.2017 so far.
Dr Thaman told `City Air News' that he had been taking up this issue for the last about one and a half years with the concerned administrative authorities but nothing concrete has come out so far. Only official correspondence has been going on, he added. As a result, the general public has been suffering, he pointed out.
