Demand to the convert Pathankot–Joginder Nagar railway line into broad gauge and to cover Jassur Railway Station under Amrit Bharat Yojana
Kangra Lok Sabha Member Dr. Rajiv Bhardwaj met Union Railway Minister Shri Ashwani Vaishnav today, urging him to include Jassur Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Yojana. He also requested the conversion of the Pathankot–Joginder Nagar railway line into broad gauge and the introduction of special trains for Himachal in the upcoming tourist season.

Dharamshala, February 13, 2025: Kangra Lok Sabha Member Dr. Rajiv Bhardwaj met Union Railway Minister Shri Ashwani Vaishnav today, urging him to include Jassur Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Yojana. He also requested the conversion of the Pathankot–Joginder Nagar railway line into broad gauge and the introduction of special trains for Himachal in the upcoming tourist season.
During the meeting, Dr. Bhardwaj discussed the strengthening and expansion plans for railways in Himachal Pradesh. Highlighting the importance of improved rail connectivity for religious tourism, he stated that a large number of domestic and international tourists visit Himachal during the summer, particularly for pilgrimage tours. Enhancing railway services would provide better and safer transportation options, benefiting tourism and local businesses.
Additionally, Dr. Bhardwaj requested halts for both Vande Bharat trains at Pathankot, pointing out that currently, only one train stops there.
Expressing gratitude to the Railway Minister for increased railway budget allocations for Himachal, he credited the NDA government and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for their commitment to the state's development.
Responding positively to the demands, Union Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnav directed railway officials to take immediate action.
