Demarcation around Budha Nullah to compete within a week
Plantation to be carried out after removing encroachments
Ludhiana, December 13, 2022: The district administration will complete demarcation around lower Budha Nullah outside Municipal Corporation's limits within a week.
Presiding over a meeting with the officials from irrigation, revenue and other departments, Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik said that clear directions were issued to ensure identification of land belonging to Nullah as soon as possible.
ADC (Rural Development) Amit Panchal and Col (Retd) Jasjit Singh Gill from Budha Dariya Rejuvenation State Task Force also attended the meeting.
The demarcation drive was started to demarcate the Budha Nullah outside city limits as a result which 22 Acres were freed from encroachment and 7000 plants were planted which have 90 % survival rate. Now the remaining portion of Buddah Darya is to be demarcated upstream and downstream of Ludhiana.
In order to finish the demarcation before next plantation season in February, 2023 the DC gave the directions to officials. Forest department officials were asked to give estimate of fencing the encroachment freed land.
DC requested all concerned residents, sarpanches, panches to extend cooperation to the demarcation drive thus helping out officials who are working to get encroachments removed from banks of Budha Nullah. Their cooperation will thus strengthen the hands of district administration in conducting the demarcation drive and which will further facilitate the fencing and forest plantation.
DC also urged all land owners to cooperate for the demarcation process. In addition she warned such persons in whose fields the trees have been planted by forest department to not to harm these and also advised that still some persons who harm these saplings are not doing their duty to green Punjab but instead are harming their coming generations and depriving them of their greenery and oxygen.
She said following the completion, encroachments on both sides will be removed immediately. Later, plantation and fencing will be carried out on the land.
The Deputy Commissioner said that Punjab government had also released required funds for speedy completion of the entire exercise. She said with the development of forest areas around Budha Nullah, will help to strengthen the banks besides preventing encroachments.
