DEO holds meeting with courier and e-commerce companies; directs companies to keep vigil on suspicious/bulk orders
District Election Officer (DEO)-cum-Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sakshi Sawhney on Monday held a meeting with the representatives of courier and e-commerce companies and directed them to keep vigil on the suspicious/bulk orders during the Lok Sabha-2024 elections.
Ludhiana, April 15, 2024: District Election Officer (DEO)-cum-Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sakshi Sawhney on Monday held a meeting with the representatives of courier and e-commerce companies and directed them to keep vigil on the suspicious/bulk orders during the Lok Sabha-2024 elections.
Representatives of the Department of Posts, Blue Dart, Amazon, Swiggy etc participated in the meeting. Both, private courier services and those run by the government, have been directed to keep a close watch on the delivery of products/goods to ensure that there is no violation of Model Code of Conduct during the Lok Sabha elections.
Sawhney told them to give details of suspicious/bulk orders to the election office regularly. She said that if there is any kind of suspicious buying and selling in the district through the medium of e-commerce and delivery of things via courier, they must intimate election authorities immediately.
She said that companies must try to take declarations from the persons regarding the products/material they want to deliver especially in the cases of suspicious/bulk delivery till enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct. She said that the booking/delivery of things on the same addresses must also be checked and recorded.
Sawhney also asked the courier companies to make an SOP for their godowns/centres to scan or check the products/materials being delivered during elections.
