DEO Sakshi Sawhney holds meeting to finalize arrangements for smooth nomination process
District Election Officer Sakshi Sawhney on Thursday held a meeting with the officials to finalize the arrangements at the district administrative complex to ensure a smooth nomination process for Lok Sabha polls to start from May 7.
Ludhiana, May 2, 2024: District Election Officer Sakshi Sawhney on Thursday held a meeting with the officials to finalize the arrangements at the district administrative complex to ensure a smooth nomination process for Lok Sabha polls to start from May 7.
Presiding over a meeting, Sawhney said that a major thrust would be laid to enforce the Model Code of Conduct zealously. She said that as per the stipulated norms laid down by the Election Commission of India (ECI) only five persons including the candidate would be allowed to enter the place where the nominations for the polls would be filed by candidates from May 7 to 14. She said that elaborate arrangements would be made to ensure that the nomination process was held in a smooth, free and fair manner.
The District Election Officer said that nominations for the polls would be received by herself only in her office from 11 am to 3 pm. She further said that the entire process of nominations would be video-graphed to ensure complete transparency. She also constituted the teams of civil and Police officers to look into the necessary arrangements for ensuring that the process of nomination could be completed smoothly.
On the occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Major Amit Sareen, SDM Deepak Bhatia and others were present.
