DEO Sakshi Sawhney takes stock of EVMs/VVPATs segregation
District Election Officer Sakshi Sawhney inspected the segregation process of EVMs/VVPATs at the district level warehouse located at Punjab Agricultural University on Friday. This process began after the district administration conducted the first randomization of EVMs/VVPATs for polling booths on April 29, in the presence of political party representatives.
Ludhiana, May 3, 2024: District Election Officer Sakshi Sawhney inspected the segregation process of EVMs/VVPATs at the district level warehouse located at Punjab Agricultural University on Friday. This process began after the district administration conducted the first randomization of EVMs/VVPATs for polling booths on April 29, in the presence of political party representatives.
Accompanied by Additional District Election Officer Major Amit Sareen, Sawhney informed that a total of 3498 ballot units, 3498 control units, and 3792 VVPATs would be distributed to all Assistant Returning Officers (AROs). She mentioned that out of these units, 20% of ballot and control units and 30% of VVPAT units would be kept as reserve. She also confirmed that the machines were found to be in good condition during the first level of checking. These machines will be stored in pre-poll EVM strong rooms at the ARO level.
Sawhney further disclosed that every polling booth would have one ballot unit, one control unit, and one VVPAT for the facilitation of voters. As per the schedule announced by the Election Commission of India, voting will take place on June 1 at 2921 polling booths in the district. She also stated that the list of certified voting machines had been supplied to political leaders of different parties and assistant returning officers.
