DEO urges youth to use Voter Helpline app and NVSP portal to enroll as voters
District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner, Sakshi Sawhney on Monday urged the youth to take maximum benefit of the 'Voter Helpline' mobile app and the National Voter Services Portal (NVSP) portal to enrol themselves as voters for the on-going Lok Sabha polls.
Ludhiana, March 18, 2024: District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner, Sakshi Sawhney on Monday urged the youth to take maximum benefit of the 'Voter Helpline' mobile app and the National Voter Services Portal (NVSP) portal to enrol themselves as voters for the on-going Lok Sabha polls.
Speaking to students of Government College for Girls during an event organized under the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign of the Election Commission of India, Sawhney emphasized the importance of exercising the right to vote to cherish the aspirations of legendary martyrs and freedom fighters. She urged the youth to use the app and portal to register themselves as voters through a single click on their computer or mobile, which takes only a few minutes to submit the application form-6.
Sawhney told students to download the Voter Helpline App from the Google Play store on their Android phone or visit www.nvsp.in to register themselves as voters. She also recommended contacting the national toll-free number 1950 or visiting the Election Commission website for any assistance. Sawhney emphasized that India could progress only if the youth actively participated in the democratic process and said that Ludhiana this time must come out in the large number on voting day on June 1 and achieve the target of surpassing 70% voter turnout (Iss Baar 70 Paar).
Later, the District Election Officer talked with the students about the election and voting process. She also gave detailed answers to the queries of the students. An oath was also administrated to the students to ensure vote casting on the polling day for strengthening the democracy.
