Department of Microbiology, Panjab University earns big achievement

Chandigarh, December 21, 2018: Department of Microbiology, Panjab University has earned a big achievement as Association of Microbiologists of India (Chandigarh unit) has received the best unit award in the country for 4th consecutive year at the 59th Annual Conference of the Association at Hyderabad.
Prof.Prince Sharma, President and Dr Naveen Gupta, Secretary of the unit explained that since its inception in 2014, the unit had been working actively in the tricity academic institutions and is associated with accomplishment of various activities for the promotion of subjects in life sciences in general like Biotechnology and Microbiology in particular.
Unit has taken 25 institutes in its fold and held a number of activities such as workshops, conferences, symposia and public lectures for the upliftment of students and faculty. The unit also interacts with school going students and their parents to explain them the importance of emerging careers in the field of Microbiology and Biotechnology. The unit is actively involved in conceptualizing social messages in the form of on-field outreach programs such as Swacchta Bharat and combating antibiotic resistance.
