The Department of Textile Technology proudly highlighted its accomplishments and initiatives at the prestigious event organized by the Textile Association of India (Ludhiana Unit), Ludhiana. The event was graced by H.B. Patel, Member of Parliament from Gujarat, as the Chief Guest along with leading textile industrialists of Ludhiana.

Ludhiana, December 10, 2024: The Department of Textile Technology proudly highlighted its accomplishments and initiatives at the prestigious event organized by the Textile Association of India (Ludhiana Unit), Ludhiana. The event was graced by H.B. Patel, Member of Parliament from Gujarat, as the Chief Guest along with leading textile industrialists of Ludhiana.

Prof. Monica Sikka, Head of the Department, along with Prof. Vinay Midha and Prof. A.K. Choudhary, gave a presentation of the department  that underscored key achievements, advanced research facilities, and its focus on new product development and sustainability-related projects.

Prof. Monica Sikka proudly announced that the department has recently been granted a ₹20 crore grant under the National Technical Textiles Mission (NTTM) by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. This significant funding is set to enhance research capabilities and accelerate innovation in technical textiles.

Head of the Department, Prof Sikka also highlighted the department’s new initiatives to strengthen industry-academia collaboration, including an M.Tech (Part-Time) Program for working professionals. It also provides customized training and consultancy services to address specific industry needs, joint research and development opportunities focusing on emerging technologies and sustainability alongwith internships and live projects that enable students to tackle real-world challenges. Additionally, workshops and seminars are co-hosted to promote knowledge exchange and drive industrial advancements.

Prof Monica Sikka invited the Ludhiana textile industry to leverage its expertise and resources for R&D, innovation, and skill development. The department is grateful to the Textile Association of India (Ludhiana Unit) for this platform to connect with industry leaders and invited interested organizations to explore avenues for meaningful partnerships.
