Chandigarh, February 26, 2013: Punjab Government has directed all the departments to make all the Government websites accessible to citizens/persons with disabilities.
A spokesperson of Punjab Government today said that most of the government websites were inaccessible to the citizens/persons with disabilities and they were facing problem to access useful information which was available to others
He said that all the government departments should take the required action in 30 days.
He also said that the Managing Director InfoTech has directed to ensure the uploading complete information of all departments.
Giving the information Spokesperson further said that National Information Centre (NIC), Government of India has also issued guidelines that all the Government websites should conform to the international accessibility standards, the World Wide Web consortium (W3C) and the web content accessibility guidelines
