Ludhiana, April 21, 2017: From Dependence to Independence, the very motto of Sashakt Canteen signifies the resolve of the specially abled young adults to make a place for themselves in the mainstream society.
Sashakt Canteen 2 was inaugurated in the District Bar Association complex today (April 21st) wherein a group of specially abled individuals will accomplish multiple tasks from cooking food items and beverages to taking orders, serving the orders, and dealing with the accounts. Thus performing multiple job roles from cook to cashier.
Impressed by the self-confidence of the youngsters after one year of training at Sashakt Canteen (Suwidha Centre) the bar association took the initiative to hand over the contract for a second canteen to Ashirwad, The North India Cerebral Palsy Association.
The function was graced by First additional senior sessions Judge Ludhiana .J.P.S Khurmi, Deputy Commissioner Shri Pardeep Aggarwal, ADC (D) Apneet Ryait , ADC Mohinder Pal & Acting President Of District Bar Association Harjot Singh Harike, and Exective members of DBA along with board members of Ashirwad Dr Vibhu Narad, Mrs Sanam Mehra, Amarjit Kamboj and Charanpreet Singh.
DC Shri Pradeep Aggarwal congratulated Team Ashirwad for the good and exemplary work that is being done at Sashakt.
The trainees: Ishneet, Harsimran, Mohit, Ankur, Gurpreet , Birender and Parvesh will run the show as stated by Dr Neelam Sodhi as she introduced each one of the team members. "I can't express enough gratitude for the support extended by the members of district bar association as not only have they given an opportunity to the specially abled but have become an inspiration for others," added Dr Neelam Sodhi, Director Ashirwad.
Sashakt Canteen is a skilling centre for persons with disabilities started by the District Administration,Ludhiana at Suwidha Centre in March 2016.
