DES-MDRC organised series of events to celebrate spirit of “Atmanirbhar Bharat”

Chandigarh, September 18, 2022: DES-MDRC organised a series of events to celebrate the spirit of “Atmanirbhar Bharat”, a clarion call by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to invoke the notion of self-reliance in Indian citizens. Under the leadership of Vice-chancellor Prof. Raj Kumar and the supervision of Prof. Neeraj Jain, Chairperson of DES-MDRC, the department organized many activities from 16th September to 17th September. Day 1: 16th September 2022: The following activities were conducted in the department premise: I. Poster-making contest on the theme of Atmanirbhar Bharat on 16-09-2022. A total of 25 participants enthusiastically participated in the poster-making contest.

II. Essay writing competition in three languages (English, Hindi, and Punjabi) on the theme of Atmanirbhar Bharat and winners are Sunaina Sharma, B.A. Sem I (First Position in English) Lakshita, B.A. Sem I (Second Position in English) Vidisha Chopra, B.com Sem III (Third Position in English) Nisha Garg, B.A. Sem III (First Position in Hindi) and Amanpreet Singh, M.A. (Punjabi) Sem III (First Position in Punjabi)

Day 2: 17th September 2022: An event was organized in the seminar hall of Guru Nanak Sikh Studies. The Chairperson of the department delivered a welcome address and awarded certificates and prizes to the winners and all the participants of the poster-making and essay writing competition. It was followed by the following activities: 
III. Expert talk by four resource persons on 17-09-2022. Prof. Suman Makkar discussed her views on the topic “Looking at Atmanirbhar Bharat through the lens of Sustainable Development”, followed by Dr. Amandeep Singh on the topic “The relevance of Atmanirbhar Bharat mission and strategies for the future”, Dr. Simran Kaur on the topic “Self-reliant India: Policy and Challenges” and Dr. Tejinder Pal Singh on the topic “Unlocking Atmanirbhar Bharat through community engagement”. 
IV. Launch of Department Souvenir by the Chairperson in the spirit of ‘vocal for local’. The same was presented to all the resource persons as a token of thanks. The department souvenir was also presented to the administration staff of the department for their valuable contribution throughout the two days celebration. 
The Atmanirbhar Bharat celebration concluded with a ‘vote of thanks’ by Prof. Harsukhjeet Kaur.
