Desecration to statue of Dr BR Ambedkar won’t be tolerated: Damanvir Singh Phillaur
Says CM's quick action against perpetrator of desecration of Ambedkar's statue praiseworthy
Chandigarh, September 22, 2021: Congress leader and Phillaur People’s Forum (PPF) founder Damanvir Singh Phillaur on Tuesday said that desecration of statue of Bharat Ratna Dr BR Ambedkar won’t be tolerated.
Praising swift action in arresting the alleged culprit who tried to damage Dr Ambedkar’s statue in Phillaur, Damanvir Singh Phillaur said: “Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi must be appreciated for quickly taking note of the event and directing police to act.”
Cautioning against fissiparous forces that are not able to digest a Dalit leader becoming Punjab’s Chief Minister for the first time, despite SCs' accounting for over 30 per cent of the state’s population, Singh said: “Bahujan people are going to reclaim their share in Punjab politics, opportunities and facilities.”
Singh also urged the people of the state to be vigilant about those who are conspiring to disturb the hard gotten peace of Punjab. "We must not slip into their trap. We should not lower our guard as well since we have suffered a lot to regain peace in the state.” Phillaur added.
It is worth mentioning that police have arrested Bhiku Meena, 25, a resident of Jawania village in district Husan Nijra of Madhya Pradesh, who allegedly tried to damage the statue of Dr B R Ambedkar by throwing a stone and a flower pot at it.
