Sutlej Club Election: Elections for various posts of prestigious Satluj Club concludes peacefully; The only woman candidate, Dr. Sulabha Jindal declared winner with huge votes
Ludhiana, December 24, 2022: Elections for various posts of the prestigious Satluj Club, Ludhiana, were completed peacefully today.
Polling took place between 9 am to 5 pm. The elections were conducted under the supervision of PCS officers Returning Officer (RO) Vikas Hira and ARO Jasleen Kaur.
Immediately after the polling, the counting of votes started and the names of the winning candidates were announced late in the night.
In the election for the post of Vice President, Sanjay Kapoor defeated his nearest rival Subodh Batish by a margin of 65 votes. Rajesh Kakkar came third by securing 406 votes.
In the election for the post of General Secretary, Dr. Ajit Singh Chawla was declared victorious by a margin of 529 votes. He secured 879 votes while his nearest rival Rakesh Rakesh Kapur secured 350 votes. Jatinder Marwaha came third with 247 votes.
In the direct fight for the post of Joint Secretary, Gurmeet Singh Kairon got 1168 votes and defeated Manoj Khanna who got 282 votes.
Harkesh Mittal was declared victorious in the triangular contest for the post of Cultural Secretary. He got 687 votes. He defeated his nearest rival Arjun Dhanda by a margin of 178 votes who got 509 votes. Ratandeep Singh came third by getting 299 votes.
Dhruv Agarwal polled 793 votes defeating KPS Walia by 98 votes in a neck-and-neck fight for the post of Finance Secretary. KPS Walia secured 695 votes.
Bhupinder Singh Dev defeated Vivek Sharma by a margin of 247 votes in a face-to-face fight for the post of Bar Secretary. Bhupinder Singh Dev got 871 votes while Vivek Sharma got 624 votes.
The post of Mess Secretary went to Maninder Singh Bedi. He defeated Navtej Singh Nat by a margin of 229 votes. Maninder Singh Bedi got 859 votes while Navtej Singh Nat got only 630 votes.
Dr. Sulabha Jindal defeated Nitin Gupta by a huge margin of votes (297) in a face-to-face fight for the post of Sports Secretary, just as everyone had expected. Dr. Sulbha Jindal got 902 and Nitin Gupta got 605 votes. Dr. Sulbha Jindal is the first woman who has been elected to the post. Dr. Sulabha, an entrepreneur and veterinarian, entered the fray with the slogan "For a better, stronger club". Being the only female contestant in the election, the fight for the post of Sports Secretary was remarkably interesting and talked about.
Dr. Arun Dhawan (564 votes) and Surinder Singh Bedi (497) were elected for the two posts of executive members. Sanjeev Singhal was defeated by getting 401. Neelam Saggar has already been declared elected unopposed for the executive seat reserved for women.
Celebrations started as soon as the election results were announced. The victorious candidates were welcomed with the beating of drums and garlands.
