Dev Samaj College of Education holds national seminar-cum-workshop on teacher education
Speakers say teaching is more of a passion
Chandigarh: Dev Samaj College of Education(DSCE), Sector 36-B, Chandigarh in association with College Development Council, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized 'National Seminar-cum-Workshop on Humanizing Innovations in Teacher Education' at the college premises.
Dr. Agnese Dhillon, Principal, DSCE in her welcome address motivated the participating teachers to imbibe performing arts & moral values in their teaching.
In the inaugural session, Prof. Nandita Singh, Department of Education, Panjab University, Chandigarh emphasized on the importance of culturally rooted and embedded values, ethos, moral values etc to produce teachers. She underlined that these aspects help in shaping teachers who have clarity of thought, are empathetic, creative, and innovative. Such teachers can even design their curriculum according to the needs of the students she said. She further stressed upon creating a 'humanizing' condition in the classroom.
The first technical session was carried out by Manoj Madaan, Principal, Dev Samaj Modern School, Delhi on the theme of “Culture of Art, Music, Dance and Drama; a path for creative thinking and emotional outlet.”
He highlighted the fact that teaching is more of a passion and people who join this profession due to their love for it. He said, “The perfect tool to imbibe values in education is through performing arts. It is the right path to let our emotions flow.”
The second technical session was held by Dr. Ashima Sharma and Dr. Kritika Bhanot, Ayurvedic Medical officers, Mohali on the theme of “Yoga: A cure for stress and anxiety”. During the session they underlined that the cure for stress and anxiety is through yoga, meditation and naturopathy.
The seminar cum workshop was organized by Dr. Anuradha Agnihotri and Manjeet Kaur Assistant Professors of Dev Samaj College of Education.
