DEVELOPMENT: Punjab Government to construct three new bus terminals

Chandigarh, December 31, 2012: The Punjab Government would construct three new bus terminals one each at Sangrur, Kapurthala and Faridkot.

Disclosing this here today a spokesman of Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) informed that these three bus terminals-cum-commercial complexes would be built under public private partnership (PPP) and PRTC and Punjab Infrastructure Development Board has invited the tenders for this purpose.

Giving the details further informed that proposed bus terminal at district headquarters Sangrur would be constructed at 6 acre land, located in the heart of the city and has high commercial potential. The Kapurthala bus terminal would be built at 4.8 acre land and Faridkot at 8.4 acre land.

He added said that construction of these bus terminals were a part of state Government policy to provide excellent public transport facilities general public. He stated that the Punjab Government has already modernized about a dozen bus stands in the state that including at Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Hoshiarpur, Sri Anandpur sahib and Majitha with the total cost of 11.60 crore, 13.47 crore, 7.30 crore, 4.78 crore and 2.70 crore respectively. Besides, Pathankot, Jagraon, Moga, Firozpur, Sahid Bhagat Singh Nagar, Sri Muketsar Sahib, Nagal and Dera Baba Nanak bus stand had also been given the face lift and were named after the martyrs name.
