DEWAN hands over Rs. 10 lakh grant’s cheque for GTB Charitable Hospital

Ludhiana, March 11, 2013: The Ludhiana District Congress Committee (Urban) president Pawan Dewan has said providing proper treatment at subsidised rates to people was need of the hour and the Minister for Information and Broadcasting Manish Tewari had given priority towards this particular factor.

He added that Tewari strongly believed that  education and treatment were the basis of development of a nation and development could never of thought of without these two factors. Dewan was addressing a gathering at the time of handing over a cheque of Rs. 10 lakh out of MP Fund of Tewari to Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Charitable Hospital (Shastri Nagar) president Mohinder Singh Bakshi.

Dewan revealed that Tewari had given priority in releasing funds out of his quota of MP Fund for education and health segments. He said Tewari had  released Rs. 10 lakh grant for the construction of building of operation theatre in the hospital, adding common people would be greatly benefitted after operation theatre started functioning. He hoped that the hospital would touch new heights in the sphere of helping the suffering humanity.

On the occasion, he assured to release more grants to the hospital at the time of requirements in the future. He said the Congress-led UPA government had been running several public welfare schemes such as free ambulance, delivery facility and free medical assistance to sick newborn babies to pregnant women under mother-child protection programme. Likewise, crores of people were taking benefit of the schemes being under rural health mission in the country, he said.

He recalled that recently, Tewari had written the Union Minister for Health Ghulam Nabi Azard, appealing for opening of a trauma centre at Civil Hospital, Ludhiana. Tewari has asked to make this trauma centre, an outreach centre of PGI as it would facilitate people in and around Ludhiana, he further revealed.

Among others, Joginder Singh Iros, Inder Singh Chawla, Surinderjit Singh, RS Sodhi, GK Walia, MS Kang, Sushil Malhotra, Baljinder Bunty, Inderjit Tony Kapoor, Akshay Bhanot, Navnish Malhotra, Rohit Pahwa, VK arora, Anil Sachdeva and Charanjit Singh Taggar were present.
