Jalandhar, November 5, 2014: To inaugurate first set of two skill enhancement programmes developed for Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and their family-members; Director General of CRPF Dilip Trivedi and CRPF-Family Welfare Association (CWA) President Suneeta Trivedi visited Lovely Professional University today.

DG Trivedi shared his valuable thoughts about CRPF and its duties and interacted with LPU students on ‘Internal Security of the Country’.

Suneeta Trivedi addressed CRPF trainees of the skill enhancement programs and advised them to learn sincerely. In the initial stage, LPU School of Fashion Technology, and School of Hospitality have started two programs. Additional Director General Dr. A P Maheshwari, LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal, Pro Chancellor Rashmi Mittal, DIG (Welfare) & Co-ordinator CWA Nitu Bhattacharya and other top ranks of CRPF and CWA were also present on this occasion.

The two skill enhancement programs inaugurated are: ‘Garment Making: Techniques & Quality Control’, and the ‘Chefs’. The former program is for female members to train them for stitching of Indian wears, dress-shirts for making them self-reliant right from the beginning. The second program is for Chef-recruits with CRPF to make them expert in all the basic processes of cooking food, its presentation, nutrition values, hygienic conditions and more.  More of such employment and entrepreneurship oriented programs will be started in near future. 80 CRPF trainees got enrolled for the presently these two inaugurated programs in two batches of 30 female and 50 Chefs each.

Informing about CRPF, DG Trivedi said: “CRPF is the oldest and largest Para-military Force specially designated to face the challenges of internal security. To meet service requirements, the force personnel are not often permitted to keep their families with them. These families have to tackle themselves the issues including education, health and other of daily needs. As such, our CWA as an organization has been working for the welfare of CRPF family members, and thus has signed an MoU with LPU.” Smt Trivedi exclaimed: “We are thankful to LPU authorities that on our single call they have agreed to start special programs for the benefit of CRPF family members. These programs will certainly help a lot in skills enhancement of our learners.” ADG Dr Maheshwari desired these short term programs to be industry oriented also.

Illustrative, only a few days back an MoU was signed between LPU and CWA during celebration of Diamond Jubilee Year of CRPF in New Delhi.  This celebration was presided over by Union HRD Minister Smt Smriti Irani. MoU was signed to help CRPF family-members in skills enhancement. The highlighting factor of MoU is its word to word implementation from both the sides, LPU & CRPF, within a short span of mere 15 days.

Appreciating commitment and leadership of top-ranks of CRPF, LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal assured CWA for all required assistance. Mittal said: “We will try our level’s best in devising short term programs which will be up to the needs of the CRPF families. These programs will be multifarious in nature and enhance their skills and in making them self reliant. We are working with Jalandhar CRPF camp to develop such programs which will be delivered at the university campus. A few of these will be delivered at nodal center Group Center Jalandhar and later on CRPF camps across the country.”
