Dhan Guru Ramdas Ji Langar Sewa starts free langar service at bus stand
Langar service inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner today
Ludhiana: To help the needy, the “Dhan Guru Ram Das Ji Langar Seva” from Hoshiarpur today launched a daily langar service outside the Bus Stand, here. The service was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma, Joint Commissioner of Police Mr J. Elanchezhian, DCP (Traffic) Mr Sukhpal Singh Brar, besides several others.
While speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma said that the organisation has been providing a free langar service in 25 hospitals of the state and was also providing three meals a day for free to the needy. He also said this langar service organisation prepared langar for about 72,000 sangats everyday. He informed that people can partake langar at bus stand Ludhiana from 11 am to 4 pm daily, and assured that this service would be started in other parts of Ludhiana city as well as district shortly.
Started by US-based Baba Manjit Singh, the Dhan Guru Ramdas Ji Langar Sewa has become the lifeline of the underprivileged clamouring for ration and feed as many as 1.5 lakh people on a daily basis. His younger brother Buta Singh runs the service when he is not around. Being run from Dhan Guru Ramdas Sewa Asthan at Pur Hiran village at Hoshiarpur, the langar is prepared at the state-of-the-art building built on over three kanal. There are several imported machines that churn out 12,000 rotis in an hour.
Baba Manjit Singh informed that special storage utensils ensure food stays warm for six to seven hours. The vehicle is also specially designed, with attachments that can be easily converted into tables and stools, if need be.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Mr Gurliakat Singh Brar, Ragi Mr Joginder Singh Riar, Mr Inderpreet Singh, besides several others.
