Dharamsala Forest Circle all set for monsoon plantation drive
`People should take responsibility for the protection of whatever saplings they plant’
Dharamsala: According to Sanjeev Sharma, DFO, Dharamsala, the Forest Department, this year has set a target of planting 1921.8 hectares of land in the monsoon season within the Dharamsala forest circle.
Sharma said, “Plants are ready in nurseries for Vanmahotsav. On the demand of the people, the department will provide free of cost the Peepal and Banyan plants too on request from the concerned Forest Range Officer or Nursery Officer.”
Sharma informed that more than 16 lakh, 72 thousand plants are ready for plantation in 47 nurseries of the forest circle.
He said that there are other species of plants including among fruit species are Peach, Guava, Dhammad, Kainth and medicinal plants including Harad Behda, Amla, Arjuna. The plantation program will be started by the department in the month of July.
He called upon the people to take responsibility for the protection of whatever saplings they plant, so that the plants do not die and environmental protection is strengthened.
