Dharamshala-McLeodganj ropeway will be completed by June 2021: Jai Ram Thakur
Bir Billing area in Kangra district is also being developed from eco-tourism point of view
Dharamshala: As per the press note issued here, the Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has disclosed that the Dharamshala - McLeodganj ropeway will be completed by June 2021. He said, “150 crore rupees is being spent on its construction and state will receive an annual fee of Rs one crore after the project is operational.” He expressed displeasure over the delay in the work of Adi Himani from Chamunda ji ropeway in district Kangra for which concession agreement has been signed and survey work has been completed. “The executing agency should give top priority to tourism projects that are nearing completion so that they can be completed in a timely manner,”This was stated by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while presiding over the 10th meeting of Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Board in Shimla today.
Jai Ram Thakur said that the Central Government has approved the up gradation of Food Craft Institute situated in Dharamshala into an Institute of Hotel Management at a cost of Rs. 11.75 crore. He said that out of this, the first installment of Rs 4.10 crore has been received. Chief Minister said that Rs. 6.6 crore has been sanctioned for developing Pong Dam as a water sports hub. He said that under this project interpretation centre and eco-tourism sites would be constructed at Pong Dam Area besides purchasing speed boats and floating jetties etc. He said that Bir Billing area in Kangra district was also being developed from eco-tourism point of view.
