Dharamshala MLA Sudhir Sharma presses for Central University and Unity Mall Projects

Dharamshala, January 4, 2025: Dharamshala MLA and BJP leader Sudhir Sharma met Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in New Delhi to address the delay in constructing the Dharamshala campus of the Central University. Sharma reported that the Union Minister assured him of prompt action by the Central Government to expedite the construction of the university's North Campus.

In a press statement issued today, Sharma revealed that all formalities for the proposed campus at Jadrangal in Dharamshala have been completed. However, he accused the Himachal Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, of deliberately withholding Rs 30 crore required for the project's initiation. According to Sharma, this political maneuvering is stalling a key educational initiative that could significantly benefit the region.

“Congress must set aside political animosity and prioritize children’s right to better education by facilitating the timely completion of educational institutions,” Sharma stated. He reiterated that the Union Minister has assured swift action on this front.

Sharma further alleged that the state government’s “political vendetta” is pushing Dharamshala’s development to the sidelines. He highlighted delays in two other major projects: the proposed Unity Mall, for which Rs 66 crore has already been sanctioned, and the Rs 132 crore Zorawar Stadium Convention Center, where formalities have also been completed but construction remains stalled due to lack of approval from the state government.

Sharma vowed to continue raising these issues on every platform, emphasizing that the development of Dharamshala remains his top priority.
