Dharamshala to host G20 (Science and Technology Department) meeting on April 19-20: L.K. Ramesh Babu
One of the G20 meetings is proposed on April 19-20 at Dharamsala in district Kangra in which about 70 delegates from across the world, including India, will participate.
Dharamshala, February 22, 2023: One of the G20 meetings is proposed on April 19-20 at Dharamsala in district Kangra in which about 70 delegates from across the world, including India, will participate. This meeting of G20 shall be of the Science and Technology Department. This information was given here by, L.K. Ramesh Babu (IFS), Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs.
Ramesh Babu said that it is a matter of pride for us that from December 1, 2022, India has got the responsibility of presiding over the G20 countries. He said, “During this period more than 200 G20 meetings will be conducted in different parts of India . A meeting of the Science and Engineering Research Board of the Department of Science and Technology and the G20 Working Group on Research and Innovation is proposed to be held in Dharamshala.”
Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, L.K. Ramesh Babu (IFS) Presided over a review meeting in Dharamsala Today to work out the preparations for the proposed G20 meeting in Dharamsala . Officers of various departments including Dr. Madhu Sinha, Director, Board of Science and Engineering Research, Government of India, Deputy Commissioner, Kangra, Dr. Nipun Jindal, SP,Kangra, Dr. Khushal Sharma participated in the meeting organized at Dharamsala today.
DC Kangra said that the officials from Ministry of External Affairs and Department of Information and Technology, Government of India praised the natural beauty of Dharamshala and described it as a suitable place for holding the meeting. He said that big events like meetings of chief secretaries, and meetings of tourism ministers of all states have been organized in Dharamshala in the past. He said that arrangements are being reviewed in Dharamshala and surrounding areas for the proposed meeting of G20.
Deputy Commissioner Kangra Dr. Nipun Jindal said that the G20 meeting being organized in Dharamshala on April 19-20 is a big event for the region. “The district administration will extend full cooperation on behalf of the state government for organizing this meeting. Arrangements will be made here as per the guidelines given by the officials of the Ministry of External Affairs for organizing the G20 meeting. Many national level programs have already been organized in Dharamshala and along with hosting the G20 meeting, Dharamshala will also be successful in organizing international events. Dharamshala is the best place for organizing such events in every respect,” said Dr Jindal.
He said that Dharamshala is already on the international map from the point of view of tourism and organizing the G20 meeting will give Dharamshala a boost in Tourism and the opportunity to host more such events in future.
