DIARRHEA: Two patients of diarrhea found

Ferozepur, October 28, 2012: A special team headed by Dr. Pardeep Kumar Aggarwal, SMO, In-charge civil hospital, was constituted by Dr. Jasbir Singh Minhas on directions of deputy commissioner, Dr. S. Karuna Raju, Ferozepur to know about the patients suffering from diarrhea in hospitals in the city.

At the time of checking in the civil hospital in the morning, no patient of diarrhea was found. After this, a team consisting of  Dr. Gurmej Ram, Medical specialist, Maninder Kaur, district mass media officer checked the hospitals in Ferozepur namely; Frances Newton Hospital , Amar Hospital , Railway Hospital , Dr. Hans Raj Hospital , Anil Baghi Hospital , Bagri Hospital , Sheel Chidlren Hospital , Arora Children Hospital , Khanna Nursing Home, Daljit Clini, Guru Ram Dass Hospital , Dheer Hospital and Dr.Ram Kaur Sethi Hospital .

Dr. Minhas, Civil Surgeon informed that in railway hospital two patients suffering from diarrhea were detected and reported to be in good condition under treatment at the hospital.

He further said, required arrangements to prevent the out-break of diarrhea in the city have been taken.

However, with the detection of two diarrhea patients in railway hospital has raised a question mark on the quality of water being supplied to the residents.

Though the civic authorities claim to be providing safe drinking water in every nook and corner of the city, the local residents when contacted complained about the supply of contaminated water giving foul smell.  At number of places in the city, sewerage over-flowing is seen posing a threat to out-break of gastroenteritis and diarrhea. 

The president of municipal council, Ashwani Grover, when contacted said, the work of cleaning of sewerage is already going on but the council is short of funds to do it on war-footing. However, the garbage lifting and cleanliness in the city is being monitored on daily basis.
