Digital eco-health calendar released at PU
Chairperson, Department of Environment Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh, released a digital and hardbound Eco-Health Calendar for 2022
Chandigarh, January 12, 2022: Chairperson, Department of Environment Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh, released a digital and hardbound Eco-Health Calendar for 2022. This calendar highlights all national and international days having importance concerning the environment or health, including the restricted and gazetted holidays as per the Department of Personnel and Training.
The digital calendar was released by Dr. Suman Mor, Chairperson, Department of Environment Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh and Dr. Ravindra Khaiwal, Professor, Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh along with their team.
At the launch event, Dr. Mor mentioned that the Eco-Health calendar is developed to raise awareness about the important days marked to improve public health and environmental protection and highlighted priority area and theme of concerned days. She stressed promoting multi-sectoral cooperation to minimize the risk of emerging public health threats such as air pollution, climate change, and ecological destruction. Dr. Suman Mor added that we need to build a communication network to engage citizens in environmental protection. He highlighted that creating public, private and government partnership is critical to emphasize the importance of environmental issues and identify sustainable solutions.
Dr. Ravindra Khaiwal, Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, highlighted that the Eco-Health calendar jointly developed by the environment and public health team is a perfect example of building partnerships and engaging all stakeholders in environmental conservation and protection. He mentioned that the objective of this Eco-Health calendar is to create awareness and engage professionals and the public to promote better health for all and environmental sustainability.
The Eco-Health Calendar is a part of the ‘Community Environmental Empowerment Program- CEEP’ project initiated under the National Clean Air Program under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, India. The CEEP is a citizen-focused community mobilization program that promotes sustainable practices for better health and the environment and is funded to Panjab University, Chandigarh.
