Dinesh and Rajni declared best athletes of 52nd H.P. Police Sports Meet
On Thursday, Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha, Kuldeep Singh Pathania, presided over the Closing Ceremony of the 52nd H.P. Police Sports Meet, 2023. The event took place at the Police Grounds in Dharamshala from November 28-30.
Dharamsala, November 30, 2023: On Thursday, Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha, Kuldeep Singh Pathania, presided over the Closing Ceremony of the 52nd H.P. Police Sports Meet, 2023. The event took place at the Police Grounds in Dharamshala from November 28-30.
Expressing his congratulations to the participants, Kuldeep Singh Pathania emphasized the significance of such sporting events for the police force. He noted that these occasions play a crucial role in fostering teamwork among police personnel, contributing to the development and strengthening of their dedication to duty. Acknowledging the commendable performance of the Himachal Pradesh Police in sports, he highlighted the force's capability to address the challenges of organized crime. Furthermore, he encouraged all officers and personnel of the police department to incorporate physical activities into their lives as an effective means of stress management.
The Closing Ceremony recognized outstanding achievements, with Dinesh from the Northern Range being adjudged the best male athlete and Ms. Rajni Pathania of the Central Unit securing the title of the best female athlete. Central Range emerged victorious in basketball, volleyball, hockey, and athletics, while Northern Range excelled in badminton, football, and handball. Southern Range triumphed in cricket and taekwondo competitions.
The Sports Meet comprised two segments, namely the Police Duty Meet and the Police Sports Meet. The participating teams were categorized into four groups—Northern Range, Central Range, Southern Range, and Central Unit. A diverse range of games, including basketball, volleyball, handball, football, badminton, and athletics, were featured in the Sports Meet. Notably, five new events, namely badminton (NGO Gd-I & II), cricket, hockey, discus throw, javelin throw, and taekwondo, were introduced this year. The Duty Meet events, conducted at Police Training College, Daroh, encompassed computer awareness, videography, photography, communications, dog squad, anti-sabotage check, and the use of scientific tools in investigation, among others. Players and teams for national-level games were selected based on their performance in these events.
Chairman of Sports and Director General of Police, Himachal Pradesh, Shri Sanjay Kundu, IPS, highlighted the demanding nature of the normal routine for police personnel, emphasizing the importance of events like these in developing team spirit, physical fitness, and discipline. He commended the exceptional performance of the Himachal Pradesh Police at the national and international levels.
The Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shiv Pratap Shukla, had inaugurated the meet during the impressive Opening Ceremony on November 28. The successful culmination of the 52nd H.P. Police Sports Meet underscored the commitment and prowess of the state's police force in sportsmanship and discipline.
