Players in action during DIPS Nurmahal conducted Sahodaya Inter School Volleyball Tournament at Jalandhar on Friday.

Jalandhar, November 7, 2014: A two-day sahoday inter school volleyball (U-19) tournament was held in DIPS Nurmahal on November 3-4. A total of 41 teams including boys’ teams and girls’ teams participated in this tournament.

The chief guest of first day was honorable Preetinder Kaur, Vice Chairperson of DIPS Institutions who was welcomed by the principal of the host school, Usha Parmar.

On November 4 the chief guest Gurbachan Singh chairman of DIPS Institutions and Monika Mandotra , CEO of DIPS Institutions were given floral welcome by the Head boy and Head girls of the host school . The day was kick started by the good wishes of Chairman and CEO to the players.

In the semifinals, in boys category the first match was played between DIPS Nurmahal and Manav Sehyog School Jalandhar. The players of DIPS Nurmahal performed exceptionally well and defeated their opponents and made it to the finals. The second match was played between the teams of DIPS Dhilwan and Police DAV Jalandhar in which Police DAV won the match and reached the finals . In the girls category , the first match was played between Police DAV Jalandhar and Cambridge International School Jalandhar and the second match was played between Cambridge Girls school Jalandhar and Army Public school Jalandhar in which Police DAV Public school and Cambridge Girls school came victorious and reached the finals.

The excitement in the finals was breath taking. To encourage the players various dignitaries of Nurmahal came to see the match in which R.S. Hundal, Ashok Sandhu, Somnath Kakkad and Jugal Kishore were prominent.

In the finals in girls category Police DAV school defeated the teams of Cambridge Girls School Jalandhar and bagged the first position Cambridge Girls School Jalandhar came second and Army Public school on the third position.

In the final match of Boys teams after a tough competition, Police DAV defeated the DIPS Nurmahal and become the winner of the tournament DIPS Nurmahal came second and DIPS Dhilwan got the third position.

In the closing ceremony, the chairman of DIPS Institutions honoured the winning teams with trophies and medals and cash price of R. 5100 to ther coach of the winning team. The Principal of DIPS Nurmahal Usha Parmar gave vote of thanks to the guests and congratulated the winners.
