MP (Rajya Sabha) from Ludhiana Sanjeev Arora has written to the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Jairam Gadkari regarding “Resumption of Construction for Southern Ludhiana Bypass Greenfield Highway (25.240 Kms)”.
Ludhiana, June 21, 2024: MP (Rajya Sabha) from Ludhiana Sanjeev Arora has written to the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Jairam Gadkari regarding “Resumption of Construction for Southern Ludhiana Bypass Greenfield Highway (25.240 Kms)”.
In his communication to the Union Minister, Arora wrote that “At the outset let me congratulate you for once again assuming the charge of Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. I would like to bring to your urgent attention the stalled construction of the Southern Ludhiana Bypass Greenfield Highway project, from kilometer 0.000 to 25.240.”
Arora pointed out that this six-lane greenfield highway project is crucial for the city of Ludhiana. It was envisioned to significantly decongest traffic within Ludhiana and enhance connectivity between rural and urban areas, positively impacting lakhs of commuters and business owners.
Adding, he mentioned, “I understand there have been delays in acquiring the necessary land. However, it is important to note that a significant portion nearly 80% (19.74 kilometers out of the total 25.240 kilometers) - has already been handed over to the NHAI or the contractor.”
Given the substantial progress made in land acquisition, Arora urged the Union Minister to take immediate action to ensure the resumption of construction on this critical project. He requested the Union Minister to direct the NHAI to restore the project at the earliest possible opportunity.
He assured the Union Minister that he would actively work with the State Government and district authorities to expedite the acquisition of any remaining land parcels.
Concluding, Arora hoped that the completion of this bypass will significantly improve traffic flow, reduce travel times, and boost economic activity in the region. He said he believed that it is in the best interest of Ludhiana and its residents to prioritize the swift completion of this project. He further hoped to look forward to the Union Minister’s prompt response and a positive resolution to this matter.
It may be mentioned here that the six-lane Greenfield highway project is to be built at the cost of Rs.956.94 crore.
