Directorate of Sports Panjab University concluded the 21 day free Yoga camp (Yoga for humanity) for the 8th consecutive year by organizing International Day of Yoga today at the Panjab University Gymnasium hall.

Chandigarh, June 21, 2022: Directorate of Sports Panjab University concluded the 21 day free Yoga camp (Yoga for humanity) for the 8th consecutive year by organizing International Day of Yoga today at the Panjab University Gymnasium hall. The live telecast from Mysore was arranged to synchronize the execution of the common yoga protocol. The Prime minister Narender Modi in his speech to the nation urged to include yoga as way of life. He also mentioned that Yoga brings unity and Integration, which  contributes to the development of the nation.

Prof Prashant Gautam Director Physical Education and Sports welcomed the Chief Guest Prof Raj kumar vice chancellor of Panjab University and Guest of honor Prof Sudhir Kumar, Director Research, Prof Y.P Verma. Registrar and Proff Jagtar Singh DSW. Prof Raj kumar Vice Chancelor in his address congratulated Dirctor Sport and Panjab University team for organizing this mega event and encouraged the participants to adopt Yoga as a life style to bring peace and harmony in their life.

Yoga competitions were organised for different age groups (6-10,11-20,21-30,31-40,41-50,51-60,61-70 and Above 70 years for both male and female) as a part of the celebrations of International day of Yoga by Directorate of sports in collaboration with Swami Vivekananda international youth and yog research foundation, Himalyan Yogis,Yoga culture and Ammy Yoga. The winners were awarded with the medal and certificates after the completion of IYD

On this occasion Panjab University stake holders and faculty members were also present to grace the occasion. The demonstration of Yoga protocol was given by Acharya Raman Kumar. Dr Neeru Mallik and Acharya Gautam Joshi.
Approximate 550 participant performed common yoga protocol of IYD .Prof Prashant Gautam presented the vote of thanks.
