Disabled must not become burden to society.  They must try to be independent: P. Chokka Rao
Hyderabad, December 2, 2019: Tomorrow, the December 3 is International Day of Disabled Persons. Taking opportunity on this occasion, P.Chokka Rao, National General Secretary of All India Confederation of The Blind of the 39 years old National Body said, the day is an opportunity for all the Disabled, Visually Challenged to think in retrospection whether we are becoming burden to the society? Being Disabled doesn’t mean that we should become burden to the society. We must strive hard to be on our own indecently, said Chokka Rao, the Telugu Man, who himself is a visually challenged retired teacher. He urged people in general to step into their nearest NGO tomorrow which is taking care of the disabled and extend them a financial support of Rs 1 a day for next 365 days or just deposit Rs 365/-. This gesture goes a long way in caring for the disabled and the visually challenged, he stated in a press note issued in Hyderabad today. The International Day of Disabled Persons was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly. It aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities. It also seeks to increase awareness of their plight, at the same time disabled must try to be abled in whichever the way they can and must not become burden to the society. Being self reliant is the best gift a disabled can give back to the society on this day, observed P. Chokka Rao.
