Distinguished Lecture “Early Days of the Statistics Department of Panjab University”

Chandigarh, September 26, 2024: As part of Golden Jubilee (1974-2024) celebration of the Department of Statistics, the Department today organized a Distinguished Lecture “Early Days of the Statistics Department of Panjab University”.  Distinguished Speaker Prof. Jayant V. Deshpande, former HOD, Deptt. of Statistics, Panjab University & Savitribai  Phule Pune University delivered the lecture.

In his lecture, Prof. Jayant V. Deshpande focused on early days of the Department of Statistics, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The students and speaker had an interactive session during the lecture, in which speaker shared about his experiences during his tenure in Panjab University and guided the audience about career in Statistics field. 

The lecture was well received by all the participants. The lecture was coordinated by Professor Narinder Kumar, Chairperson of the Department of Statistics.

All of the Faculty Members, Research Scholars and Postgraduate students of the Department of Statistics, Panjab University, Chandigarh attended the lecture.  Vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Sangeeta Arora.
