The Department of Statistics, Panjab University (PU) organised a Distinguished Lecture on the topic “Statistical Issues in Clinical Trials” as part of “Distinguished Lecture Series” to mark the Golden Jubilee (1974-2024) of the Department.

Chandigarh, November 5, 2024: The Department of Statistics, Panjab University (PU) organised a Distinguished Lecture on the topic “Statistical Issues in Clinical Trials” as part of “Distinguished Lecture Series” to mark the Golden Jubilee (1974-2024) of the Department.
 
Delivering the lecture, distinguished alumnus of the PU Dept. of Statistics and Executive Director & Therapeutic Head (Statistics), Merck Research Labs, New Jersey, USA,  Dr. Amarjot Kaur discussed about Drug Development and Typical Clinical Study Designs in which she explained different phases of it and the role of statistics in them. She explained the knowledge of use of multiple hypotheses testing in testing a drug. She gave her insights on Subgroup Analysis & Shrinkage Estimation. She shared detailed knowledge about missing data and what are the common methods to address the missing data in clinical trials. She also shared her thoughts on Time to Event Analysis.
 
Earlier, Chairperson of the Department of Statistics and organizer of the Distinguished Lecture Series Professor Narinder Kumar extended a warm welcome to Dr. Amarjot Kaur for accepting the invitation. In his welcome address, Professor Narinder Kumar mentioned that the Distinguished Speaker has over two decades of experience of working in Merck Research Labs, USA. 

All the Faculty Members, Research Scholars and Students of the Department of Statistics, Panjab University, Chandigarh attended the lecture. The lecture was well received by all the participants. The distinguished lecture was managed by Sarru Jindal and Arvind Kaushal.
