Distribution of PDS wheat through smart ration cards to start from Jan 22 onwards

Ludhiana: The Punjab government would start the distribution of PDS wheat through ePOS machines and smart ration cards from tomorrow, i.e. January 22, 2020 onwards. As per the information provided by the senior officials of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, the distribution of wheat would be started in the presence of Punjab Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister Mr Bharat Bhushan Ashu from Barewal area of city tomorrow.
They informed that under the Smart Ration Card scheme, around 1.37 crore residents from around 35 lakh families are getting subsidised wheat. In district Ludhiana alone, wheat is being distributed to 3.89 lakh families in a transparent manner with the help of ePOS machines.
