District Administration and Chandigarh University collaborate to establish Punjab’s largest covid-19 isolation facility at Gharuan
District Administration Mohali gearing itself to meet any emergency situation in future
SAS Nagar: The District Administration in active collaboration with the Chandigarh University has established Punjab’s largest COVID-19 isolation facility under its CU-AID initiative near its campus in Gharuan.
The Deputy Commissioner Mr. Girish Dayalan said, “Punjab Government is taking all precautions and the District Administration Mohali is gearing itself to meet any emergency situation in future”. CU-Isolation facility is part of the State Government’ contingency plan to prepare isolation facilities well in advance so that in-case the number of infected cases rises, the administration can take care to isolate them with quickest response time, DC Mohali added.
“We are thankful to management and staff Chandigarh University that they have created the facility in a very short time” added DC Mohali. He further said, “The District Administration Mohali is running CU-AID campaign along with Chandigarh University in Kharar and nearby villages where the University Team is distributing cooked meals twice a day to more than 2000 persons, the medical team of University is distributing free hand sanitizers, face masks to the poor and needy”. Like Chandigarh University we request other educational institutions and organizations to come forward and extend their help to Administration and Government in the time of crisis, the DC added.
The SDM Kharar Mr. Himanshu Jain inspected the isolation facility along with his team and had a look at the preparations made by the University.
“We have inspected the CU-Isolation Facility at Gharuan and found that every emergency facility required for the COVID-19 patients is in place which includes ICU Units, Medicines, PPE Kits for the Medical Team and Ambulance facility to shift the patients” said Mr. Himanshu Jain. The CU-Isolation facility will be beneficial for the administration which can be used in-case there is a spike of infection cases in the nearby villages or Kharar.
While giving details about the facility, University Chancellor, Satnam Singh Sandhu said, “We have prepared CU-Isolation Facility under the guidance of Punjab Government and it comprises of 1000 bed quarantine facility, 200 bed medical centre, OPD for patients, protection kits including face masks patients”. He further added that, “COVID-19 dedicated facility has round the clock medical team comprising Doctors, 50 Para-Medical staff who will be looking after the patients and 24x7 ambulance facility to shift the patients”. Satnam Sandhu further said, “CU-Isolation facility has all the basic medical facilities, oxygen cylinders and other biomedical equipment and the quarantine facility can be further scaled up for 5000 patients within a few days in case of emergency and if the requirement of administration increases”.
4 more corona virus positive cases emerge, All from Jawaharpur
S.AS Nagar: The District saw another four corona virus positive cases emerging today. All belong to the Jawaharpur Village which earlier had 11 positive cases. With four new cases, the positive cases from Jawaharpur alone have come to 15. The total number of positive cases in the district numbers 30 as of now.
It is also noteworthy that the results of the 164 samples were pending and out of these, 118 belong to Jawaharpur, out of which the report of 80 samples was found negative.
Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu launches sanitization drive in phase 7 under personal supervision
SAS Nagar: "The Punjab Government has taken necessary measures at a rapid pace to ensure that the corona virus disease is effectively contained. It is in keeping with this goal in mind that a Sanitization drive has been undertaken today at Phase - 7."
Disclosing this here today on the occasion of kickstarting the drive under his personal supervision, the Health and Family Welfare Minister, Punjab, and Mohali MLA Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu said that the District Administration is taking effective steps to stop the spread of corona virus and the need of the hour is to keep the momentum going.
Calling the staff engaged in the Sanitization work as the Ambassadors of Hygiene, the minister assured that their needs regarding the safety equipment concerning masks, gloves and sanitisers besides ensuring their medical check up, would also be taken care of.
He also said that the spray machines, fire tenders, hand spray pumps are being used for disinfection with sodium hypochlorite.The villages besides the slum areas are being disinfected on priority.
