District Election Officer checks drive of removing political hoardings/banners/ posters

Nawanshahr, January 9 , 2022: District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal on Sunday evening inspected the drive of removing political hoardings/banners/posters/wall paintings and other poll material and ordered that strict action will be taken against the persons for defacing the government buildings or properties by pasting of political posters or installing any kind of hoardings.
Accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner (UD) Amit Sareen, Sarangal said that with the announcement of Elections, Model Code of Conduct was promulgated in the state immediately on January 8 evening and directions were issued immediately to removal of poll related material.
He made it clear that the defacement of any government buildings or properties would not be tolerated and directed the heads of the government departments to ensure none of the political party or leader can paste the posters or erect hoardings on the buildings.
He ordered the forest department to ensure the trees must not be used for the hoardings and the PSPCL department to ensure that electric poles must not be used for political campaigning.
He also said that no political person should be involved in any kind of government’s function and no new joining in government, semi-government (Boards, Corporations, Agencies, and Co-operative) should be allowed till the completion of election process.
Sarangal said that the violation of the model code of conduct would be tolerated and would be enforced strictly. He clearly stated that strict action would be taken in any case of the violation.
