Ludhiana, July 9: The Ludhiana District Unit of Punjab Pradesh Beopar Mandal held a demonstration in Field Ganj Kuccha No.9 here today, to lodge their protest against the deteriorating condition of power supply in the state.
Speaking on the occasion, the mandal’s state general secretary Sunil Mehra, general secretary Ashwani Mahajan, City President Baljit Singh regretted that there was acute power shortage in the state, resulting to which every segment was getting affected.
They pointed out that trade and industry is suffering huge losses due to the shortage of power. The state government has failed to make prior arrangements to meet the rising demand of power in view of the ongoing paddy season.
They said on the one hand the PSPCL is charging heavily and on the other hand it is failing to ensuring adequate power supply to its consumers.
They claimed that Ludhiana Industry is suffering a financial loss of Rs.300 crore daily due to the power crisis.
They urged upon the state government to do the needful at the earliest possible time, otherwise, the Congress will have to pay a heavy price in the coming assembly elections.
