Jalandhar: Diwali, the festival of lights and happiness was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar today.
Wishing a very happy Diwali to the staff and students Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra elaborated the socio-cultural significance of Diwali. He said that Diwali was a symbol of victory of good over evil. This day is celebrated as Captives Release Day as on this day the sixth Guru of the Sikhs, Sri Hargobind Ji, got released 52 kings from the fort of Gwalior. Lamps were lit then to celebrate their arrival.
He said that it was the duty of all to celebrate green Diwali so as to minimise environmental pollution. He also urged all to celebrate the festival following the safety guidelines for Covid-19.
