Students Gave the Message to Celebrate Eco-Friendly Diwali
Jalandhar, November 11, 2023: The festival of Diwali was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Innocent Hearts from pre-school to college, in which the students of all the five schools of Innocent Hearts (Green Model Town, Loharan, Nurpur, Cantt.-Jandiala Road and Kapurthala Road) and Innocent Hearts College of Education. Children participated with great enthusiasm in various activities like Candle Decoration, Diya Decoration, Puja Thali Decoration, Wall Hanging Craft, Toran Making, Glass Aromatic Candles Making and Rangoli Making etc.The children of INNOKIDS, the Pre- Primary wing of Innocent Hearts decorated the school courtyard with lamps and flowers and made beautiful rangoli with the help of teachers.
On this occasion, little children came dressed as different characters of Ramayana and presented Ramkatha on the stage in a very attractive manner. Candle/Diya decoration activity was conducted with the children of class 1st and 2nd, in which the children revealed their hidden talent by decorating candles in an attractive manner and making beautiful designs on earthen lamps. By making earthen lamps, he gave the message of celebrating pollution-free green Diwali. Wall hanging craft activity was done with the children of Grade 3, in which the children displayed their art very beautifully. Colorful paper streamers making activities were done for the students of grade IV, Toran making for the children of grade V and glass aromatic candles making activities were done for the children of grade VI. Kandel (lantern) making activity was for students of grade VII and VIII. An intra-house Rangoli making competition was conducted for the students of Grades 9 and 10. Rangoli, non-fire cooking and mehndi competitions were conducted for the students of grades XI and XII under the title'Fiery Fiesta'. The entire school campus was decorated with beautiful colors of Rangoli by the students.
In all the classes, the teachers highlighted the importance of Diwali and made the children aware of its spiritual and social importance. He told the children that Diwali is a festival of cleanliness and auspiciousness, celebrated on the new moon day of Kartik month, Diwali spiritually symbolizes the victory of light over darkness. He inspired the children to follow the ideals of Maryada-Purushottam Shri Ram and also asked them to celebrate pollution-free Diwali by not using firecrackers.
Innocent Hearts College of Education organized 'Anti-Cracker and Anti-Plastic Week' on the eve of Diwali with the objective to promote "Go Green" and 'Celebrate Eco Friendly Diwali'. On this occasion, Rangoli competition was organized with the theme “Victory of Good over Evil” and “Goddess Lakshmi Rangoli Design for Diwali”.
Student teachers and teacher trainers pledged that they would never use plastic bags, which are a major source of pollution. Instead they creatively designed attractive Diwali gift packages with waste paper materials. Slogan-writing competition with pictures was also organized on the theme "No crackers this Diwali; burst the ego".
