DLC SUPVA Films Shine at Haryana Film Festival

Rohtak, April 7, 2025: Two short films from the Faculty of Film and Television, DLC SUPVA, Rohtak, have brought laurels to the varsity at the Haryana Film Festival held at MDU, Rohtak.

“Bantu Ki Toli,” a 24-minute short film written and directed by Ashish Nehra, Assistant Professor (Acting), received a Token of Appreciation at the festival in the professional category. Set in the rural landscape of Bamla village, the film cleverly weaves the message of the Swachh Bharat Mission into a humorous and engaging narrative. It tells the story of a village battling with garbage management issues, where a social worker named Vikas attempts to raise awareness among villagers, only to be met with resistance. The turning point comes when a group of mischievous children, led by Bantu, scare the villagers by spreading a rumour that a ghost appears when garbage is thrown around. What follows is a comedic and dramatic exploration of change and responsibility.

The film has already made its mark at prestigious platforms like the Jaipur and Raipur Film Festivals. The technical team, comprising Dilip Ahirwar (Sound Design), Satya Prakash Rath (Cinematography), and Rajesh Bedwal (Editing)—all from DLC SUPVA—played a crucial role in shaping the film. The cast features an ensemble of talented performers including Rishabh Parik, Vikas Rohilla, Sujata, Karanveer, Shailesh, Jinesh, Rakhi, Avinash Saini, Lalit Khanna, Vishwadeepak Trikha, Sameer, Sikandar, and Saurabh.

Another notable triumph came with the film “Nachar,” which bagged the Best Film and Best Actor awards. Directed by acting students Naina and Chetan Sharma, the film poignantly captures the struggles and emotional turmoil of a male artist who plays female roles. The film’s raw sensitivity and thematic depth have already earned it acclaim at several film festivals.

The film teams were felicitated today by Prof. Shree Prakash Singh, Vice-Chancellor, in the presence of Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik and Head, Faculty of Film & Television, Dr. Mahesh.

Appreciating the efforts of the students and faculty, VC Prof. Shree Prakash Singh said, "These recognitions are a testimony to the creative strength and cinematic maturity of our students and faculty. It is heartening to see stories rooted in regional realities told with such clarity, craft, and commitment. At DLC SUPVA, we are determined to nurture such excellence and create a vibrant hub of meaningful cinema.”
