DMC&H and College of Nursing Inaugurates Community Nursing Centre at Malakpur Bet and Hosts Free Health Camp

Ludhiana, February 25, 2025: Dayanand Medical College & Hospital and DMC&H College Nursing today inaugurated its Community Nursing Center at Malakpur Bet. The center was officially inaugurated by Chief Guest Gurwinder Singh Grewal, Sarpanch of Malakpur Bet, in the esteemed presence of Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, Mukesh Kumar, Treasurer, DMC&H Managing Society, Principal, Dr GS Wander, Dr. Sandeep Kaushal, Dean Academics, DMC&H, Dr Ashwani K Chaudhary, Medical Superintendent, Dr Sandeep Sharma, Medical Superintendent, Dr Bishav Mohan, Chief Cardiologist Cum Coordinator and Dr. Triza Jiwan, Principal, DMC&H College of Nursing. Also present on the occasion were Dr. Nidhi Sagar, Vice Principal, College of Nursing, Dr. Sandeep Kaur, Head of Community Health Nursing Department, and Associate Professor Meenakshi, Camp Coordinator.
The Community Nursing Center at Malakpur Bet is well-equipped to provide primary health education, and essential medical support to the local population. Speaking on the occasion, Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H, emphasized the importance of community health awareness and expressed gratitude to Sarpanch Gurwinder Singh Grewal for his unwavering support in making this initiative a reality.
Along with the inauguration, a free health camp was organized, benefiting 471 attendees with comprehensive health assessments, blood investigations, and free medicines. A team of specialist doctors from various departments actively participated in the camp, including Dr. Ashima Khanna (Medicine), Dr. Gagandeep Kaur (Dermatology), Dr. Yesha Gupta (Ophthalmology), Dr. Shruti Bansal (Obstetrics & Gynecology), Dr. Sajal Maingi (Orthopedics), Dr. Mitthat Miglani, and Dr. Sandeep Kaur (Psychiatry). The camp provided healthcare services to 167 patients in General Medicine, 68 in Dermatology, 95 in Ophthalmology, 30 in Obstetrics & Gynecology, 82 in Orthopedics, and 29 in Psychiatry.
Adding to the impact of the event, B.Sc. (N) 7th semester students took an active role in imparting health education to attendees, emphasizing preventive healthcare measures and promoting healthy lifestyle practices. The inauguration of the Community Nursing Center and the successful health camp stand as a testament to DMC&H’s unwavering dedication to strengthening healthcare accessibility and promoting wellness in rural communities.
