DMCH Cancer Care Centre in collaboration with the American Oncology Institute (AOI) in Ludhiana, achieves a remarkable success in the treatment of a 50-year-old woman diagnosed with polymorphous low-grade adenocarcinoma of the Buccal Space. Polymorphous low-grade adenocarcinoma (PLGA) is a rare type of cancer that typically originates in the minor salivary glands of the mouth and can occur in various locations within the oral cavity, including the buccal space (the area within the cheek). Adenocarcinoma refers to a type of cancer that develops from glandular cells.
Ludhiana, January 22, 2024: DMCH Cancer Care Centre in collaboration with the American Oncology Institute (AOI) in Ludhiana, achieves a remarkable success in the treatment of a 50-year-old woman diagnosed with polymorphous low-grade adenocarcinoma of the Buccal Space. Polymorphous low-grade adenocarcinoma (PLGA) is a rare type of cancer that typically originates in the minor salivary glands of the mouth and can occur in various locations within the oral cavity, including the buccal space (the area within the cheek). The patient was presented with a recurring mass in her left cheek. After thorough evaluation, a CEMRI (Contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging) revealed an enhancing lesion measuring 2x3 cm in the left Buccal space within the Buccinator muscle. Under the care of Dr Sumit Gupta, Head & Neck Surgical oncologist, AOI, the patient underwent a wide excision of the Buccal space, through the oral cavity.
Following the successful surgery, the patient is currently under regular follow-up and observation to ensure continued wellness and recovery.
