DMC&H celebrates Infection Prevention Week 2024 with engaging activities and competitions
Department of Microbiology under leadership of Dr Veenu Gupta and Hospital Infection Control Committee, DMC&H successfully celebrated Infection Prevention Week 13th to 19th October 2024. The week-long event aimed to promote awareness about infection control and included a series of interactive activities, competitions, and training sessions.
Ludhiana, October 22, 2024: Department of Microbiology under leadership of Dr Veenu Gupta and Hospital Infection Control Committee, DMC&H successfully celebrated Infection Prevention Week 13th to 19th October 2024. The week-long event aimed to promote awareness about infection control and included a series of interactive activities, competitions, and training sessions.
Concluded the event with a great ceremony today at Dumra Auditorium. The ceremony was graced by esteemed guests, including Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H, Mukesh Kumar, Treasurer, Dr G. S Wander, Principal, Dr. Sandeep Sharma, Medical Supdt, Dr. Sandeep Kaushal, Dean Academics, and Dr. Triza Jiwan, Principal, DMC&H College of Nursing. In his speech, Bipin Gupta commended the Department of Microbiology for their efforts and also talked about the importance of infection prevention week. The event was also attended by Anit Joseph, Deputy Nursing Supdt (DNS), faculty of microbiology, and HICC members.
The performances included a Mime Act by BSc nursing students, a play on infection awareness by MBBS batch 2023, and a hand hygiene play by the Residents Microbiology and Infection control nurses. The event concluded with the distribution of prizes and certificates, acknowledging the efforts of all participants. Special thanks to Dr. Veenu Gupta, Professor & Head Department of Microbiology for her invaluable leadership throughout the week.
Started from 13th October, various activities are held including technical staff training, Global Handwashing Day, Creative Poster and Rangoli Making Competition by B.Sc. MLT and paramedical students, awareness sessions on infection prevention across various patient care areas of DMC&H and HDHI by nursing staff and Infection Control Nurses (ICNs).
On 18th October, Dr. Veenu Gupta, Professor & Head, Department of Microbiology, led an exciting quiz on infection control practices for 4th semester BSc Nursing students at DMC&H College of Nursing, Malkpur. Dr. Sarit Sharma, Professor of Community Medicine & Sr. Admin Incharge of Hospital Infection Control gave an overview on the infection control. The quiz continued on 19th October at Dumra Auditorium DMC&H, for PG Resident of various departments and nursing staff, where four teams representing Surgery, Medicine, ICU, and Cardiac departments and showcased their knowledge in a spirited competition.
