DMC&H Celebrates World Blood Donor Day with Life-Saving Blood Donation Camp
In celebration of World Blood Donor Day, two day blood donation camp was organized by the Department of Transfusion Medicine. The aim of this event is to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation and encouraging more people to become regular donors. This year theme for the day is “20 Years of Celebrating Giving: Thank You Blood Donors”.
Ludhiana, June 14, 2024: In celebration of World Blood Donor Day, two day blood donation camp was organized by the Department of Transfusion Medicine. The aim of this event is to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation and encouraging more people to become regular donors. This year theme for the day is “20 Years of Celebrating Giving: Thank You Blood Donors”.
Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, Bipin Gupta said that, DMC&H is always committed to provide the best medical care facilities to the public further he lauded the efforts of Department of Transfusion Medicine to conduct this blood donation camp and he urged everyone who is eligible to come out and donate.
In is message Principal, Dr G S Wander, said that this camp seeks to highlight the critical need for blood in hospitals and medical facilities, especially for emergencies, surgeries, and treatments for chronic illnesses and with the support of community, we can make a significant impact for those in need.
Giving information about the blood donation camp, Dr Rajesh Kumar, Professor & Head Department of Transfusion Medicine, DMC&H said that to participate in the blood donation camp, donors must be between the ages of 18 and 65 with weight at least 50 kg, and be in good health. Donors are advised to eat a healthy meal and drink plenty of water before donating, said Dr Rajesh.
All necessary precautions have been implemented to ensure the safety and well-being of donors, strictly adhering to health and sanitation guidelines. Professional medical staff are present to oversee the donation process and assist donors throughout the event.
Department of Transfusion Medicine was organised three blood donation camps and more than 220 blood units were collected.
