DMC&H conducts workshop on New ICD-11 Coding
DMC&H hosted a Workshop on New ICD-11Coding which was conducted by the CBHI (Central Bureau of Health Intelligence), MOHFW, Govt. of India aimed at advancing knowledge and practices related to International Coding of Diseases. The theme of the workshop was to sensitize diverse national stakeholders on the importance of implementing ICD-11 to support the generation of accurate and complete information about population health including causes of death, health conditions, reimbursements, resource use, patient safety, vaccinations amongst others.
Ludhiana, August 21, 2024: DMC&H hosted a Workshop on New ICD-11Coding which was conducted by the CBHI (Central Bureau of Health Intelligence), MOHFW, Govt. of India aimed at advancing knowledge and practices related to International Coding of Diseases. The theme of the workshop was to sensitize diverse national stakeholders on the importance of implementing ICD-11 to support the generation of accurate and complete information about population health including causes of death, health conditions, reimbursements, resource use, patient safety, vaccinations amongst others.
The workshop was started with lamp lightening ceremony; dignitaries who graced the occasion were Dr. GS Wander, Principal DMC & H, Dr. Sandeep Kaushal Dean Academics, Dr. Sandeep Sharma, Dr. Ashwani Chaudhry and Dr. Bishav Mohan, Medical Supdts., Diksha Sachdeva, Depity Director, CBHI, MOHFW, India, Dr. (Maj.) VP Srivastava Ex-SMO-WHO/NPSP, KGMU, Lucknow, Dr. Sarit Sharma &Dr. V.P. Singh, members of the Organizing Committee.
In his message, Bipin Gupta, Secretary DMC&H Managing Society lauded the efforts of CBHI (Central Bureau of Health Informatics), MOHFW, Govt. of India for conducting the workshop.
Dr. G. S. Wander Principal, DMC&H welcomed all the delegates and speakers. He highlighted the importance of ICD 11 coding, and informed that ICD-11, like previous versions of ICD, provides a way to translate diagnoses into alphanumeric codes. This shared language enables worldwide standardized reporting, monitoring, and comparison of health conditions as well as the categorization of injuries and diseases (morbidity) and causes of death (mortality). ICD codes can have enormous financial importance, as they also are used to determine resource allocation, such as funding for health initiatives.
Further, Dr. Wander congratulated the organizing team for conducting the workshop and highlighted that our institution has always been at the forefront of medical education and research, and this workshop is another step in our journey of excellence. The workshop was attended by more than 100 participants.
The workshop was concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr.Sarit Sharma. He expressed gratitude to the esteemed speakers, participants and delegates for their valuable contribution for the success of the workshop.
