DMCH docs selected for international eye cancer fellowship
The fellowship is awarded to the top 15 applicants worldwide after a three-step examination process
Ludhiana, February 1, 2022: In a remarkable achievement, Dr. Ritesh Verma, Assistant professor ophthalmology (eye), from DMCH has been selected for the prestigious international council of ophthalmology fellowship in eye cancers from the University of Michigan, USA. The fellowship is awarded to the top 15 applicants worldwide after a three-step examination process.
Dr. Verma completed his under graduation from DMCH and went for his masters degree in ophthalmology to Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Rohtak. He then went on to pursue Oculoplasty fellowship from Dr. shroff charity eye hospital, New Delhi and LV prasad eye institute, Hyderabad. He has also served as a senior resident before joining DMCH, where he has extensively published on retinopathy of prematurity
Secretary DMCH Managing Society, Sh Prem Kumar Gupta lauded the achievement and said that it was not a laurel for the hospital but for the entire northern region. DMCH is always committed to provide latest healthcare facilities for the benefits and welfare of the general public said Mr Gupta.
Speaking on the occasion Principal Dr Sandeep Puri said that it is proud moment for all of us that our faculty member is one, among the huge numbers of candidates. This eye cancer treatment will supplement to our already established eye department of the hospital.
Dr Ritesh Verma said that this fellowship will help to strengthen the oncology services at DMCH. He said that this fellowship is his dream come true and he wants to learn and establish the international standards of patient care.
