DMC&H hosts Walkathon and community awareness campaign
To commemorate World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (18th to 24th November), Department of Microbiology, DMC&H under the leadership of Dr Veenu Gupta, Professor & Head of the Department organized a Walkathon and community awareness campaign today. This year theme of the week is Educate, Advocate and Act now.
Ludhiana, November 20, 2024: To commemorate World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (18th to 24th November), Department of Microbiology, DMC&H under the leadership of Dr Veenu Gupta, Professor & Head of the Department organised a Walkathon and community awareness campaign today. This year theme of the week is Educate, Advocate and Act now.
Commenced from Durma Auditorium of DMC&H the walkathon was graced by Principal Dr G S Wander, Dean Academics Dr Sandeep Kaushal along with MBBS students of batch 2023 and faculty members of DMC&H. It was concluded at Rose Garden, Ludhiana.
In his message, Bipin Gupta, Secretary DMC&H Managing Society, lauded the efforts of Department of Microbiology to conduct community awareness campaign.
In his brief speech, Dr G S Wander, Principal DMC&H, highlighted that Department of Microbiology has always been at the forefront for conducting such awareness sessions for the staff and general public. The aim of today’s walkathon is to spread awareness about rational use of antibiotics and diagnostic practices.
Dr Veenu Gupta, professor & Head Department Microbiology said that awareness is the first step in solving any crisis. The overuse and misuse of antimicrobials is one of the biggest drivers of AMR said Dr Veenu Gupta
During the session walkers of Rose Garden were sensitized about use of antibiotics and informative brochures were also distributed among them.
