DMC&H inaugurated “Passport 2 life” Clinic in association with CanKids KidsCan foundation
Paediatric Haematology Oncology, Unit of Dept of Paediatrics, Dayanand Medical College & Hospital inaugurated the clinic called “Passport 2 life” in association with CanKids KidsCan. This will be the first clinic in Punjab focused on the follow-up treatment of paediatric cancer survivor patients.
Ludhiana, August 18, 2023: Paediatric Haematology Oncology, Unit of Dept of Paediatrics, Dayanand Medical College & Hospital inaugurated the clinic called “Passport 2 life” in association with CanKids KidsCan. This will be the first clinic in Punjab focused on the follow-up treatment of paediatric cancer survivor patients.
Present on the event were Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, Mukesh Kumar, Treasurer, DMC&H managing Society, Dr Sandeep Kaushal, Dean, Academics, Rama Munjal, President, Arpita Cancer Society, Sonal Sharma, Co-found & secretary, Board of Governors, CanKids Kids Can, Dr Puneet Pooni, HOD, Dept of Pediatrics, Dr Shruti Kakkar, In charge, Paediatric Oncology, Dept of Paediatrics, cancer survivors and their parents and others.
During the event, Sonal Sharma, Co-found & secretary, Board of Governors, CanKids KidsCan, elaborated on the mission of “Passport 2 life” clinics to promote the awareness about the importance of follow ups after the completion of the cancer treatment. She also said that a “passport” booklet will be handed to the patients so that a record of their treatment is compiled in this one booklet for future treatments.
Rama Munjal, President, Arpita Cancer Society, said that the constant support of the management and the doctors is what keeps them going into contributing to treatment of paediatric cancer patients. She shared the journey of 25 years of Arpita Cancer Society and how it had made possible for many children to gain access to treatment and vowed to do the same in the future.
Dr. Shruti advised the parents of the survivors to keep an eye out for their children's follow-up care so that relapses could be prevented. She also thanked Rama Munjal and Arpita Cancer Society for the constant support in making treatment affordable and possible for all.
The guests were felicitated with tokens hand made by the cancer survivors.
